Skinny Pelembe’s music is a shapeshifting collage of indie rock, dub, electronic, psych and pop – all of it not-so-lightly dusted with beats that sound like they could’ve been dug out of a crate. He pulls as much from Madlib’s mad scientist hooks as he does from King Krule’s alien croon and Fela Kuti’s fiery grooves. The Johannesburg-born, Doncaster-raised artist and producer has honed his own truly unique delivery. Impossible-to-pigeonhole he was aptly first championed by the ever-eclectic Gilles Peterson through his Future Bubblers program.
Tipped by The Guardian, Line of Best Fit, ID and Brooklyn Vegan. His first 3 singles were all picked for BBC 6 Music’s A-List. On BBC Radio 1 he’s been championed by Huw Stephens and performed a live. set from Reeperbahn festival. He’s recorded live sessions for COLORS, The Vinyl Factory, Worldwide FM and delighted audiences at Festivals and on headline tours with his dynamic live show.back to representation
